Mr. Lalich has vast litigation and labor relations experience including experience handling collective bargaining issues and union and management grievances. He began his career as an attorney in 1974 with Anthony Scariano & Associates. Thereafter, he became counsel for the Illinois Racing Board, where he advised the seven member State agency, represented the Board at administrative hearings, drafted rules, regulations and Board orders, and coordinated Board investigations between the Race Track Division of the Illinois Bureau of Investigation and various local, county and State agencies.
In 1977 Mr. Lalich became Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago. There, he was appointed Supervising Attorney for labor and personnel matters and practiced law with an emphasis on civil rights litigation and labor and health matters and controversies. He also served as special legal advisor to the Chicago Department of Health, Chicago Department of Personnel and Chicago Fire Department, as well as numerous other City of Chicago Departments. While with the City of Chicago, Mr. Lalich handled scores of disciplinary and grievance proceedings and was a member of the City’s negotiating team relative to the first collective bargaining agreement for the Chicago Fire Department. He also lectured for the Chicago Bar Association on employment issues.
From 1981 until 2007, Mr. Lalich was partner at Nash, Lalich & Kralovec, LLC, Chicago, Illinois, where he served as legal counsel and operations advisor for numerous businesses and individuals, including insurance carriers and gaming and sports related entities, providing advice and representation in such matters as business formations, negotiations and agreements, premises and sports liability cases, civil rights claims, labor/management negotiations and disputes, general business litigation, and administrative and regulatory proceedings.
In conjunction with his law practice, Mr. Lalich has served as General Counsel for Sportsman’s Park Race Track, a horse racing facility in Cicero, Illinois, and was also appointed General Counsel and a Director for Chicago Motor Speedway. Further, Mr. Lalich served as a Director for the Casino Queen, a riverboat casino located in East St. Louis, Illinois, where he also acted as counsel and advisor for management and the other members of the Board of Directors. There, he also was an active member of audit, budget and facility reconstruction committees.
Mr. Lalich received his bachelor’s degree in history from Harvard University, where he was quarterback for the varsity football team and pitcher for the varsity baseball team. After graduating from Harvard in 1969, Mr. Lalich attended law school at DePaul University Law School in Chicago, Illinois, where he graduated in 1974.
