Ms. Payne’s primary practice areas are labor and employment law and state appellate practice. Ms. Payne has expertise in collective bargaining, practicing before the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board and handling arbitrations, teacher and administrator disciplinary matters. Ms. Payne also has significant experience defending a class action lawsuit involving voting rights on behalf of a local municipality.
Ms. Payne joined Scariano, Himes and Petrarca in 2001 after practicing law at firms in both Missouri and Georgia and working in the agent-trainee program at Creative Artists Agency in Beverly Hills, California. Ms. Payne attended the University of Kansas where she graduated with distinction, Phi Beta Kappa, in 1981. She graduated from Vanderbilt School of Law in 1984 where she was a member of the law review for two years.
