Ms. Olson joined Scariano, Himes and Petrarca in 2008 and concentrates her practice in special education law. She has been involved in implementing Individualized Education Plans for students in need of special education and related services and Section 504 Plans for students who qualify as individuals with a disability under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
Ms. Olson graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English literature and a minor in secondary education from the University of Illinois in 2001. Also in 2001, she received her Illinois secondary school certification for the subjects of English and Art. She has taught English literature and composition for students in Illinois public schools.
In 2008, Ms. Olson was awarded a Juris Doctor degree from New York Law School. While at New York Law School, Ms. Olson ran the Sanctuary for Families-Courtroom Advocates Program and was a research assistant for Nadine Strossen, the then-president of the American Civil Liberties Union. Also during law school, Ms. Olson was a law clerk at Mayerson & Associates, where she composed sections of an Amicus Brief for the case Board of Education of the City School District of the City of New York v. Tom F. o/b/o Gilbert F., 128 S.Ct. 1, 2007 WL 2935030 (October 10, 2007).
